"It has been recognised that an internationally unique and technically innovative accelerator system will in future be of great significance to perform state of the art research in many different scientific fields concerned with the basic structure of matter and related areas.
Having decided to promote the construction and operation of a Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research in Europe for the use of the international scientific community, based on criteria of scientific excellence."

Part of the Convention

Jagiellonian University was nominated by the Minister of Science and Higher Education for International Shareholder in the FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Reseach in Europe GmbH), which was established in order to build a new center dedicated to accelerator of physics research with antiprotons and ions. It is one of the most important research projects in the world. In the preparation of guidelines for the FAIR project was attended by 2500 scientists from 44 countries, including polish.

"Partners established a legal body called National Consortium of Femtophisics in order to prepare the structure of experimental research and the scientific research at the International Centre for Antiproton and Ion Research in Darmstadt (Germany). The National Consortium of Femtophisics plays an active role contributing to research in the field of physics and its applications."

Article 1 of the Agreement

"Partners agree that the entity coordinating activities of the National Consortium of Femtophisics and outside representing the consortium is Jagiellonian University."
